Highs and lows

May 19, 2016

What a day it has been so far, and it's only 11.45am.

after a very minimal amount of sleep, due to being in pain and the stormy weather making everything feel muggy, i managed to roll myself out of bed to head down to the doctors surgery. i was ready to have my blood tests done until i realised that we were simply chatting about them and they wont happen until next week.

A list of everything I'm being tested for - basically like having a service and if anything shows up, we'll go for the mot.

after my trip to the medical folk i decided to buy some more food...may need to start selling things if i continue on this diet, or at least learn how to make things from scratch. wasn't the best idea going to co-op either as their prices are ridiculous, even with 10% student discount (making the most of that one while I can).

anyway, food bought, quick hello at the dancing man and back home. What happened from this point is anyones guess - although i have now made sense of the situation. i went from bouncy and energetic to crying my eyes out. i put it down to hormones at first and then sat back to realise that i have been useless with my medication which has led my brain to go all over the show...stupid!!

Enough of the boring ramblings of a crazy woman. here's what i managed to put together food/drink wise yesterday. yes, many of you will say it looks horrid or whatever, but it's healthy, it's helping me, and it was damn tasty.

first up: blueberry smoothie (even though it came out green)

 Ingredients:

* 2 handfuls spinach (or leafy greens)

* 1 (frozen) banana

* 1/2 cup (frozen) blueberries

* 1/4 tsp cinnamon

* 1/2 cup water

* 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or soya if you prefer)

Might look horrid, but it was delicious and it filled me up until a made an early dinner of salmon fillets and veg:

 I apologise for the sweaty plate, things got steamy in the kitchen.

steamed broccoli, carrot and kale. mashed sweet potato and salmon fillet cooked with garlic and onion.

I'm trying to keep a nice mix of fruit and veg stocked up in the kitchen. Some in a basket, some in the fridge, and some in the freezer. i'm only eating certain fish and lean chicken/turkey, but these I will buy as and when i need them.

so, not an overly exciting post and i apologise but if you take anything from this entry let it be this: we have one life to live, and one chance to make it as amazing as possible. Being ill, no matter what it is, is never fun, but don't be a fool like me, don't hide from it. if you need certain things to keep you going like medication, then accept it, take it, and be happy. If you need to change how you do things, what you do or don't eat, then do it. Thrive and be alive.
